The Chester County Historical Society is encouraging students from grades 6-12 to enter in their historic architecture photography contest. The Historical Society hopes local students will take the opportunity to explore and capture the beautiful sites in West Chester by participating in this contest.
Photos may be submitted to from one or more of the following four categories: details, exteriors, interiors, and digitally enhanced. Any type of camera is permitted, even Iphone photos will be accepted. Photos must be taken within the past 12 months and submitted before the deadline, April 15th 2016.
The first place winner in each category will be awarded a cash prize of $25.00. Second place, third place, and honorable mention will receive award certificates. All award winners will receive their prizes and be recognized by Mayor Comitta on May 18, 2016 at The West Chester Borough Council meeting for Historic Preservation Month. Winning and Honorable Mention photos will be featured in a virtual gallery on West Chester website, downtownwestchester.com.
Here’s the guidelines for submitting photos:
One digital entry per email can be sent to photocontest@ChesterCoHistorical.org by 12pm, April 15, 2016.
Submit .JPG, .PNG, or .TIF files only.
Include your name, your grade and school, your parent’s name, your address, your parent’s phone number, and be sure to identify the photograph’s street location or name of the building in West Chester. (Entries without the correct contact information will be disqualified.)
Also include 2-3 sentences explaining why you liked the photo, how it was taken, or what attracted you to the particular site.
