The employees of Benchmark Federal Credit Union made monthly donations throughout the past year to dress down and wear jeans on Fridays. At the end of 2015, a check for $1,860 was donated to the local charity, Home of the Sparrow.
Located in Exton, Home of the Sparrow, helps women facing the challenge of homelessness. The nonprofit organization provides secure housing, aids the women to long-term stability and creates a new path for their futures.
“Benchmark believes in empowering women, especially in financial matters,” says Rebecca Worthington, Benchmark Marketing Director. “We are inspired by the good work Home of the Sparrow does in addressing the realities and challenges of being a single mother, which can be daunting.”
Benchmark is also the title sponsor of the upcoming Chester County Single Mothers’ Conference, which was originally formed 4 years ago by 12 nonprofits in the county, Home of the Sparrow included. “Benchmark will join dozens of other resources at the event, and we will offer valuable financial information regarding budgeting, savings and checking accounts, loans; as well as provide free credit reports,” Worthington says.
The event is open to all single mothers and will take place on Saturday, April 9 at Henderson High School in West Chester from 8AM to 3PM. Free on-site childcare will be provided. Follow the Chester County Single Mothers’ Conference on Facebook.
