Celebrating one of America’s most successful leader’s birthday, on February 8-12, the Chester County Community Foundation will be conducting free tours of West Chester’s historic landmark, the Lincoln Building. The building compiled of political history dates back almost two centuries to 1833.
Inside the 3 and 1/2 story, free standing building guests will find treasures related to Abraham Lincoln’s lifetime achievements. Home to the publication of the first biography simply titled, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, marks this building significance to Lincoln. The biography led Lincoln to office as the 16th president, as well as the first Republican president.
The famous biography was published on the front page of the Chester County Times, appropriately a Republican Newspaper. Two copies of the original edition still exist today, one being kept at Chester County Historical Society.
