This month we introduced West Chester’s Cook Book, which featured amazing recipes from some of West Chester’s most-popular restaurants. The piece was so popular that we figured, “Why stop there?” So, two of our favorite spots—Burrito Loco and Boxcar Brewpub—cooked up the two following bonus recipes for us.
If you love spicing up your meals, stick this recipe in your cook book. Burrito Loco makes all their amazing sauces in house, and they were kind enough to scale down their recipes (they make their hot sauce gallons at a time!) for you to try your hand at replicating their most-ordered sauce. Give it a try!
Burrito Loco’s Red Hot Sauce
Ingredients:
1 1/2 Cups of Diablo Grand Chili Peppers
1 Firm Medium Tomato
Salt to Taste
Directions:
Take 1 1/2 cups of Diablo Grande Chili Peppers (ripened to red in color)-take stems off
Boil in water for about 15 minutes
Add 1 firm medium tomato; continue boiling until tomato skins come off
Put in blender on high and add salt to taste (you may need to wear a face mask during this part of the process)
Enjoy it on any Burrito Loco dish-hot sauce is always free!
Like a bit of sweet with your spicy? Your favorite local brewery has you covered. Swing by Boxcar Brewpub to pick up a growler of 1492 American Pale Ale, or stop in any area beer distributor to snag a whole case, then get to cooking this rich and delicious BBQ sauce… plus, you’ll get to drink the leftover beer!
