It’s-almost-the most wonderful time of the year, and CCFA wants you to help make it extra special by helping them with their annual Shop with the Sheriff event!
On December 3rd, the Chester County Family Academy partners with the Walmart store to host their 3rd annual Shop with the Sheriff. The CCFA is a West Chester charter school that serves under privileged families, providing kids from kindergarten to 2nd grade with private school quality education. They begin by asking their students to make wish lists of what they want while on this shopping trip. When reading some of their responses, your eyes are open to how much they need. Flooding the lists their students make were practical items such as pajamas and blankets, which a majority of the $100 they are allowed to spend goes to.
The 110 students are taken to the Walmart, located in Kennet Square to meet up with police officers from the Chester County Police Department to shop hand in hand for their Christmas presents. After a long, fun day of shopping, the kids are taken back to the Providence Church in West Chester, where they will have lunch with the deputies. They will meet their families for a holiday fun filled afternoon, entertained with games, music and a visit from Santa and his elves! Volunteers will be stationed here as well, helping the kids wrap their newly bought presents.
How can you help? The CCFA takes $50 donations, all of which are matched by Walmart, creating a $100 budget for students to do their holiday shopping with. Most of the money goes towards things on their list, but they are also encouraged to pick themselves out a little something special with any left over money. You can also donate your time and volunteer for this event. For more information on donations and volunteer opportunities, you can contact Deputy Harry McKinney at 610.344.4314 or at hmckinney@chesco.org. Help make this holiday season special for these kids and their families by donating or volunteering today!
For more information of this event, can be found in our December issue of The WC Press hitting the stands 12/1. The Holiday Shopping Guide issue will include an in depth featured story of this event.
