Have you ever thought about reselling your clothes? At Christine’s Upscale Resale, it’s all about recycling your fashions, whether they’re old or new, and giving back to the community and trying out new clothes. When Christine opened her business 23 years ago in West Chester, she just knew something great would come out of it.
“I opened the store because recycling never goes out of style,” she said. “And I love fashion and I truly felt that the business of recycling was only gonna get bigger and more popular.”
Our model, Dianna, donned a pheasant blouse from Loft, a J Crew denim skirt, Prada peep-toe stacked heel shoes, a Banana Republic gold chain bracelet, a multi-tassel stone necklace, and topped it off with a Dooney & Bourke double-handle front pocket purse. Christine explained why that outfit was one of the best choices to model.
“We picked out the outfit because it is contemporary styling that appeals to the general public,” she said. “It was a great outfit for the end of summer into early fall. You can wear it when you’re dressing up or down.”
If consigners bring their clothes to Christine’s to get recycled and resold, they can receive up to 40 percent of the selling price in cash. It’s a nice way for Christine to show that fashion doesn’t always have to be new; sometimes, it just has to be new to you. And Christine’s appeals to all demographics, from millennials to older women, which means there’s something for everyone at her shop.
I asked her why she loves participating in photo shoots like the one we did a couple of weeks ago.
“I like them because it gives us a chance to be a little more artistic,” she said, “and show off designer fashion, which can be available at reasonable prices.”
