One of the hottest new smoothie franchises from Atlanta, Georgia and Paoli, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has arrived in West Chester. All of their options are super healthy and made fresh every day, with real fruits and vegetables in their smoothies, as well as an extensive menu that includes vegetarian and vegan choices. From Classic Smoothies like the Kiwi Quencher to the Superfood Smoothies like Avocolada, there’s something to enjoy for everyone, even children who prefer not to eat their fruits and vegetables. I spoke with Amy Qiu, one of Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s owners, about why she loves working where she is.
“Before I worked here, I worked at a mushroom company for almost 16 years. We had a conflict, so I left and didn’t do anything for one year,” she explained. “[Kai and I] were looking for a good franchise to work with. When we found Tropical Smoothie Cafe, I felt like it was the right business for me. I like all of the healthy options.”
Kai Qiu, Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s other owner, also owns a local massage business. But despite all of the work that goes into owning multiple business, Kai aspires to own several more. But he has a soft spot for the business he shares with his wife.
“It seems like the younger generation is really self-conscious about their health,” Kai said. “They are really wanting to be healthy.”

“And it makes sense,” Amy added, “because our slogan is ‘eat better, feel better.”
“I really like the concept of this place,” Amy continued. “I just love healthy foods. We don’t use artificial flavoring. And I really love the work myself. I feel good when serving customers, and when they say that the smoothies taste so good. I’m really so happy to hear that.”
