This Saturday, December 2nd, from 10am to 3pm, the West Chester Public Library is sponsoring their Seventh Annual Holiday Home Tour. This tour offers a peek into 10 beautiful and historical homes all around the borough, and a tour of the West Chester Galleries in the Chester County Art Association. Anyone who goes to the CCAA on this tour will receive 10% all gift shop items and $300 and under for original artwork.
The houses shown were all built over 300 years, from 1850 until 2015. According to the West Chester Public Library, “the Tour homes epitomize the way in which the area’s architectural history underlies and enhances the very modern lives of their inhabitants.”
The tour is completely self-guided. Once tickets are purchased, ticket holders will receive an informational booklet and a map, so they can choose the order of viewing these homes, which range from very small to very large, depending on the century built. Victoria Dow, director of the West Chester Public Library, explained why the Home Tour is a success.
“People like staying active in their community and touring different homes,” she said. “Every year, we feature different homes to highlight the borough. We’ve had people travel from out of state for this tour!”
Victoria has gone on the tour herself and she always enjoys seeing the extensive holiday decorations that the homeowners put on display, as well as the historical architectural styles and how the homes’ foundations were laid out century by century.
“The historical values of the homes really make the Holiday Home Tour successful,” Victoria said. “Especially since the Borough is over 200 years old!”
Ticket costs for the Holiday Home Tour are put towards fundraising for library materials and programs. Tickets are $30 each when purchased in advance online and at the West Chester Public Library main desk in advance. They are $40 when purchased this Saturday.
The West Chester Public Library would like to thank their sponsors for making this event possible: CTDI, the Kit Anstey Real Estate Team, and Team Toyota from Glen Mills.
