Walking around downtown West Chester this weekend, you may spot the pleasant glow of luminarias, (or what look like boxed candles), and a pine aroma. The holiday season has come to West Chester! This Friday from 9:30am to 8pm and on Saturday from 9:30am until 2pm, stock up on all of your holiday gifts and decorations at the Chester County Historical Society’s Holiday Crafts and Greens Sale, and Luminarias.
This event, hosted annually by the Chester County Historical Society, will “bring back one of Chester County’s finest traditions.” Purchase any of their wreaths, floral arrangements, ornaments, and garlands, which are all hand-crafted by the society’s volunteers, as part of the Holiday and Greens Sale Committee.
Craft kits will additionally be for sale, with generous-sized bags of holly and greens to craft your own wreaths, garland, and ornaments at home. The Historical Society will also include a Luminaria Sale Fundraiser in their Greens Sale. All proceeds from the sale and the fundraiser will support the Chester County Historical Society’s mission and its volunteer organization. Each luminaria has a reusable, plastic candle base which fills with water, instead of sand. Place the plastic base in a paper bag, then place a candle or battery tea-light inside for the illumination.
If you walk outside the Chester County Historical Society this afternoon, you will see Susan Johnstone and a plethora of volunteers arduously working to set up
this Holiday Crafts and Greens Sale. Make sure you stop by this week for some great deals and greater way to support your local community.
