Love is in the air
It’s time for some sweet treats from a local bakery
On this temperate Valentine’s Day, I stopped by Yori’s Church Street Bakery. You can just smell the aroma of freshly baked desserts wafting through the warm bakery when you walk through their doorway. They have an assortment of heart-shaped cookies, cakes, pies, and chocolates, with your choice of various pink-sprinkled cupcakes. Dave Yori, Yori’s owner, talked about these treats.
“Our most popular desserts are the classic chocolate ones,” he said. “So, our Love Bugs and brownies do pretty well. Though I have to say, my favorite is the the vanilla “Be Mine” heart-shaped cake.”
Valentine’s Day is one of Yori’s top 10 busiest days of the year — they see a good amount of foot traffic throughout the day, especially during and after lunch. And if you’re not looking to buy individual desserts from their bakery counter, Yori’s has put together heart-shaped baskets of pink, heart cookies for you to buy, along with some fresh Turk’s Head Coffee.
“Everything you see here is made from scratch,” Dave said. “And we never use peanut products in any of our desserts to be allergy-aware, though we do use tree nuts, such as hazelnuts, in some of our desserts.”
Whatever your fancy, there’s a dessert for everyone here — and no, you don’t need a valentine to indulge in desserts, you deserve it! Yori’s cakes are always popular, especially with weddings, showers, and birthday parties, but I’d recommend buying an assortment of desserts to get the most out of their Valentine’s Day selection!
“We see a lot of families stop in here with their children too,” Dave said. “Our Valentine’s Day desserts are for everyone!”
Yori’s Church Street Bakery is located at 15 North Church Street. For more information, call Dave Yori at 610.344.9674.
