Just when we thought it was spring, winter returned.
The cool thing about writing is that we can go back in time. Take our blog post from yesterday, for example, where I wrote about springtime in West Chester. Unfortunately, nature seems to have other ideas today — rain turned to snow turned into all of us re-burrowing ourselves under blankets.
But the return of winter snow doesn’t have to be all bad. Make the most it with these 3 ideas.
Hot Chocolate
You may have thought it was too warm to drink hot chocolate until next year, but surprise! It’s freezing outside, so once again, you can indulge in one of our favorite winter drinks. Gemelli Gelato has some excellent French gourmet hot chocolate that we featured in our Holiday Shopping Guide — for $18, you can make eight servings of hot chocolate with semi-sweet chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows. Each mason jar also comes with simple instructions, so you can make it perfectly.
Sweaters
The local downtown West Chester boutiques may have their newest spring styles on their racks today in honor of First Friday, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of the sweaters and other winter clothes they’ll be aiming to sell. Look hard enough and you might just find items on sale!
Baking
This is the day to get inspired by places like Yori’s Bakery, Dia Doce, and Cakes and Candies by Maryellen and plant yourself in front of some batter, an oven, and those holiday cookie cutters you had stashed away and bake desserts! You want cupcakes or cookies? How about a whole cake? Get inspired by your favorite local bakeries.
Don’t forget that we spring forward for Daylight Savings Time on March 11th and the first official day of spring is March 20th, so spring is right around the corner!
