All proceeds will benefit ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester
If you love food, friendly competition, and supporting local organizations, then you’re in for a treat! Tonight, Thursday, March 22nd, from 6-9pm at the West Chester University Alumni & Foundation Center, four local restaurants will be battling at the 2018 7th Annual “Chef’s Best” Cooking Competition!
Champion Mercato Ristorante will be fighting to hold onto its winning title against competitors Bar Avalon, Saloon 151, and The Social: Southern Scratch and Kitchen Bar.
Throughout the night, guests will be able to enjoy generous amounts of food samples, then vote for their favorite dish out of the four competing restaurants.
But be warned — it won’t be an easy decision!
Chefs will be throwing it all on the table — food pun definitely intended — and serving up their favorite menu selections, as they compete to de-throne Mercato, who won last year with their delicious Cream of Asparagus Soup with Macaroni Drizzle Topped with Crab Meat and Short Rib Sliders Topped with a Light Creamed Horseradish Sauce.
The 2018 “Chef’s Best” will also feature a silent auction and local desserts from Gemelli, and Yori’s Bakery.
Tickets for tonight’s “Chef’s Best” are $55 ($25 of which is tax deductible). Wine and beer will be available for an additional contribution.
All proceeds for tonight’s “Chef’s Best” will benefit ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester, which is an interfaith organization dedicated to empower un- and under-employed West Chester residents to stabilize their households. Services include eviction and utility shut-off prevention, employment support services and a Community Cupboard, which provides personal care and household items as well as dry food goods and homemade frozen meals.
“This promises to be the fiercest – and tastiest – competition yet,” says ACT in Faith Board President Denise Antonelli. “As ‘Chef’s Best’ grows in popularity throughout the area, more and more restaurants want to vie for the title. It’s a win for the competitors, and for ACT in Faith. We raised more than $32,000 for people in need in 2017, and we want to encourage our sponsors and supporters to help us top that amount this year. We’re looking forward to watching Mercato defend its title!”
