One local favorite, Baked is constantly serving up egg-less dough.
If you’re not hypnotized by the sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies and fresh cookie dough as soon as you walk into Baked on South High Street, I feel badly for you. Baked offers a variety of products, from their famous cookie dough to their signature and classic cookies, the Bakedwich ice cream sandwich, and so much more! One local resident can’t get enough of Baked’s dough.
“Since I first discovered Baked in the October Sweet Tooth issue of ‘The WC Press,’ I’ve been obsessed,” says Hale Shewman. “And I can’t get in trouble for eating too much dough!”
When I asked what he meant by this, he clarified that he’s often guilt of eating all of the uncooked batter and dough before they’re baked into cookies. So, it’s a good thing that Baked cookie dough is completely safe to consume, never using any raw eggs or egg products in their dough. They also use heat-treated flour that’s completely free of bacteria and e-coli.
And before you try to buy a lot of cookie dough to bake at home — remember that because Baked doesn’t use any raw eggs, egg products, or baking soda, it’s not normal cookie dough, and therefore won’t be able to bake in your oven.
“Why bake it,” Baked says, “when you can eat it with a spoon?!”
Baked also uses real butter and high-quality dairy products in their dough, and never oils, as they can cause upset stomachs. Their dough also doesn’t contain any preservatives or chemicals.
There are many different cookie dough flavors available at Baked, but Hale prefers their sugar and mint-chocolate chip kinds.
“They’re just so delicious!” Hale affirms. “Why go anywhere else?”
Check out Baked at 34 South High Street from 10-12am on weekdays, 10-3am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10-10pm on Sundays.
