Tonight’s performance is the first of three classical music collaborations at Uptown!
As part of the “Curtis on Tour: The Nina von Maltzahn Global Touring Initiative of the Curtis Institute of Music,” Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center will be hosting violinist Wanchi and guitarist Jordan Dodson tonight at 7pm.
Wanchi is best known for her recordings and performances of chamber music, solo recitals, and her solo performances with orchestras throughout the United States and Asia. Currently, she is a professor of violin at the James Madison University School of Music.
Jordan Dodson is an award-winning guitarist best known for his solo performances and work as a chamber musician. He has earned degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Tickets for tonight’s performance (April 2nd) are $25 with a $3 service fee. You can receive a 10% series discount when you buy all three Curtis series tickets.
The Curtis Institute of Music
The Curtis Institute of Music is well-known for its traditional and innovative outlooks when it comes to classical music. It seeks to educate young, gifted musicians as citizens and artists who engage a local and global community through high-quality musical performances. As a way to channel these efforts, the “Curtis on Tour” was formed in 2008 and allows students, faculty, and alumni to take their performances to new heights — traveling to more than 200 concerts in over 90 cities in Europe, Asia, and North and South America.
“Curtis on Tour” builds upon Curtis’ performance-focused learning philosophy by offering students real-world, professional touring, and by teaching them through master classes, interactive concerts, and encouraging participation in community activities and solo performances.
Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center is excited to be included among these national and international performance venues for these top-rank musicians to showcase their talents.
