From our May “Summer Style” issue.
The year is 1972 and you’re off to a fancy night out with your family — or maybe you’re heading out for a night at the disco, or just lounging around mesmerized by your lava lamp.
In Malena’s Vintage Boutique at the corner of West Gay and Church Streets, you’ll feel like you stepped back in time. You’ll find clothes of so many different patterns and colors and instantly know that many outfits and accessories aren’t from this century. The shop makes it clear that, while fashions come and go, good style is a constant.
Like the purse, shoes, and accessories our model Bri Bradshaw was wearing could blend in with today’s fashion. Other elements of the outfit, like the sunglasses and floral-patterned dress set are the definition of the word, “retro.” But she looked radiant and confident, purse dangling at her elbow and bangled-hand in one of two pockets. So, even when you’re trying to stand out from the crowd, you can still keep your smartphone on hand in these pockets.
With hair and makeup done by Avanté stylists Bella Page and Nikki Kallmeyer, Bri looked ready to go to Woodstock — or an Earth Wind & Fire concert.
