Uptown!’s first executive director, Angela Scully, will be retiring at the end of the year.
Scully started out as the development director and quickly moved into the position of executive director of the theater.
Scully has been a part of Uptown!’s team for five years. She’s had the opportunity to see the transformation of an abandoned armory into the gorgeous theater we know as Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center.
It was Uptown!’s mission from to bring cultural diversity in their program. Scully created partnerships between two of the leading entertainment organizations in the greater Philadelphia area: the Curtis Institute of Music and World Cafe Live.
The founders of Uptown! believe that Scully has been a main piece of the puzzle, when reflecting on the company’s success.
The board of directors will be looking nationwide for the next Executive Director Position, and will have Scully’s help with the transition. It is fair to say that the next director will have huge shoes to fill.
