On October first, Barnaby’s of West Chester held their sixth Annual Jerry Steppke Golf Outing.
This event was created in memory of Jerry Steppke, a member of the FOP lodge number 19. He was the father of one of Barnaby’s managers, Mike Steppke. “When my dad passed away, I knew I wanted to do something for his FOP Lodge,” Steppke Said.
The Golf Outing was a public event held at Downingtown Country Club. “I’m at the golf course by 9:30am and we are back at Barnaby’s for dinner at 5:30pm. It’s a long day, but it’s a fun day,” Steppke said.
Barnaby’s golf outing had 140 golfers that attended this year. When comparing previous years, “This year has to be my most favorite, because it was the biggest turn out,” Steppke said. Most restaurants in town sponsored their own holes or donated gift cards.
Many of Barnaby’s staff members come out to participate and cheer on their coworkers in the tournament. The event was about enjoying each others company, “My favorite part of the day is watching everyone laughing and having a good time,” Steppke said. This was a time of year they all look forward to.
Another successful year in the books for the event. “I want to thank all of the restaurants and businesses in West Chester and the surrounding areas for all their donations,” Steppke said.
