Start off the fall season by being a part of West Chester’s Annual Chili Cook-Off.
This Sunday, the Rotary Club of West Chester will host their 16th cook-off, with gates opening at 10:30am. More than 70 teams will be serving their favorite recipe for the perfect bowl of chili. Teams will be separated into different divisions. The divisions are separated as restaurants, businesses, nonprofits, and hometown/volunteer cooks. The team with the most votes or wooden coins from the public, will receive the People’s Choice Award along with $1,000.
There’s something more important than the seasoning of meat and beans. The Rotary Club’s motto is “Service above Self”. Their main mission of the Chili Cook-Off is for families and friends to enjoy a fun day together, while also raising money to change the lives of the less fortunate.
In the result of last year’s festival, the Rotary Club awarded over $32,000 in grants to 13 different non-profit organizations. The club has also provided scholarships for local students, donations for the local food bank, winter coats to children in need, support for the Rotary International’s Worldwide Polio Eradication Program, and much more. All of these generous acts are the result of the festival’s success.
Come out and show your support on Sunday, to make a difference in our community. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate, the day of the event. If you can’t make it, you can still donate on their website as well.
