The West Chester Borough Council is holding a hearing, to consider the regulation of plastic bags and plastic straws.
The hearing is on July 17th at 6:30pm, located at the Council Chambers (401 E Gay St). The council will discuss considering the adoption of the amendment Borough Code, adding a new Chapter 81 entitled “Plastic Bag and Plastic Straw Regulations”.
The purpose of this motion, is to reduce environmental damage throughout the borough. Plastic bags and plastic straws have been found in streams, rivers, trees, streets, and parks.
In result, plastic straws and plastic bags are becoming more dangerous, harming wildlife, blocking storm drains, water pollution, increasing solid waste generation, and greenhouse gas.
