Get ready to fight cancer and join Relay for Life this Month
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 20th to Sunday, May 21st and get ready to show cancer who’s boss. Relay for Life of Central Chester County wants you to be a part the fight against cancer. Starting at 10am Saturday morning and ending 10am Sunday, come down to Downingtown West High School to participate in this 24 hour event.
“Cancer Doesn’t Sleep and Neither Do We”
Relay for Life is a 24 hour event to show cancer that participants will not stop fighting this disease. You can register a team to take turns walking or running the designated paths set up at the school. Those participating will also set up a campsite with their teams. At the campsites, teams will be fundraising and finding donations that will benefit the team’s fundraising goal. The campsites are decorated according to the event’s theme. This year, Relay for Life’s theme is underwater to “Sea a Cure”
Event Set Up
Here’s what to expect at Relay for Life:
- Opening Ceremony
- Survivor Lap-Cancer survivors and people affected by the disease walk the track
- Caregiver Lap-those who have supported patients take a lap
- All Teams Come to Track
- Team Members begin Taking Turns
- When not walking or running, participants visit campsites
- Lighting of Luminaries- done after sunset to remember those who we have lost
- Closing Ceremonies

There is no registration fee for Relay. You can register online here. If for some reason you cannot make the event and still want to help, Relay for Life is always graciously accepting donations. You can donate to help their cause by visiting their website.
